Dabbling.....

Am I bored or something?  I think that this is how I got in to watercolours 20 years ago!  I was bored and looking for a new hobby.  Look at me now!

Last summer I decided to try acrylic painting.  It is very different from watercolours.....backwards I might say.....but I guess some would say that watercolours is backwards.   In watercolour you paint from light to dark, because the watercolour paints are somewhat transparent, so you can't cover up a darker colour with a lighter colour.  But what an amazing and fun thing....in acrylic painting YOU CAN DO THAT!  And what freedom that gives.  Wow.  I took 2 classes in Chatsworth with Peter John Reid and this past winter, I did a Zoom class with Marianne Broome from Schomberg.

I was pleased to be able to take a 3 week Zoom series with Marianne in April.  The topic was Clouds.  I love painting clouds in watercolour so thought that it would be fun in Acrylic.  And it was.  I'm very pleased with most of my results.

You never know.....maybe I'll have to add an acrylic section to my website someday!  Or become Debbie Ellis Artworks (like my Etsy shop is called).

We'll have to wait and see!  But for now, I'm just going be dabbling...... :)
